Author: Marcela Durán
Jason tells the story of two children who “really, really” wanted to have a pet. They live in a tall apartment building in Toronto and pets are not allowed. Then one day a friend of the family gives them a bird. The story weaves the wonder of the children and their parents as they realize that the bird “Jason” is very smart and has become one more member of the family. The bird gets lost and this leads to an exciting and suspenseful Toronto adventure. The book is written in English with a few Spanish words sprinkled in to represent how the languages converge in the lives of bilingual families and how children navigate within the two worlds.
