Marcela Durán


ENGLISH

Marcela S. Durán is the Community Practicum coordinator for the Concurrent pre-service teacher education program at York University. She also teaches pre-service courses with the Faculty of Education.

She has been involved throughout her professional career in a variety of projects that connect community organizations and community concerns to the world of schools and to teacher education. With the Faculty of Education she has had the responsibility of developing the Westview Partnership which is now in its 12 year of operation. She also has developed the community field work experience program for the concurrent program which she now coordinates.  Prior to her work at York University she worked at the former North York Board of Education as a Multicultural Consultant and Equity in the Curriculum Coordinator.

Marcela is a teacher; she did her undergraduate degrees in the University of Chile in Santiago and her graduate studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education University of Toronto.

Marcela S. Durán enseña en la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad de York y es la coordinadora de la Práctica Comunitaria del Primer Año de Pedagogía de la Facultad.

Durante su carrera Marcela ha estado envuelta en una serie de proyectos que conectan las organizaciones comunitarias con la vida de las escuelas y la Facultad de Educación. Entre ellos el desarrollo de la Westview Partnership que conecta la Universidad de York con las escuelas y estudiantes de la comunidad de Jane-Finch. Además ha desarrollado el programa de prácticas comunitarias para estudiantes de primer año de pedagogía.  En el pasado también se desempeño como Consultora Multicultural y Coordinadora de Equidad Curricular para el Distrito de Educación de North York (North York Board of Education) hoy parte del Distrito Educacional de Toronto ( Toronto District School Board).

Marcela es profesora, hizo sus studios de pedagogía en la Universidad de Chile en Santiago de Chile y sus estudios de Post Grado en el Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto.
